John Tyre Robertson - 4th great grandfather

From "A History of Greenhill, Alabama", by William Q. Hill

Robertson Community:
Located only a few yards from the Tennessee line and northwest of Greenhill.
It was named for the Robertson family who settled here as early as 1818.
John Tyre Robertson, born in South Carolina and was living here in 1818.
He had 3 marriages which produced 21 children who lived to adulthood.
A descendant believed he had 3 children that died young.
The story is that he had so many sons in the Confederate Army during
The War Between The States, that they could have formed a company of their own.
John Tyre Robertson, Sr. was born about 1766--1770 and several of his children migrated to
Texas soon after the Civil War. Many of his sons are buried in Lauderdale County.

John Tyre Robertson was born 1770 in VA/SC and died about 1855 in Lauderdale Co, AL.
Through DNA testing it is very likely John Tyre is a direct descendant of
Jeffrey Robertson who was born 1654 in Scotland and the son of 'Isaac' Mills Robertson.
Many people have attached Mary 'Polly' Adams as the wife of John Tyre Robertson.
Info copied from the original source (Angus) taken as fact without researching further.
Mary Adams was the wife of Tyree Robertson, Sr., an uncle of John Tyre.
John Tyre Robertson married Susannah Levingston/Livingston on 13 Mar 1800 in Montgomery Co, KY.
Angus states that Tyree, Jr. son of the above Tyree married Susannah Levingston/Livingston.
This is a far fetched assumption without further research!!!

Jim Long (TNGenWeb County Coordinator) for Stewart Co, TN reports a Tirey Robertson
in the 1809/1810 tax lists of Stewart Co, TN. This is John Tyre's uncle.
John Tyre may have been in Lauderdale Co, AL. in 1818 but I doubt he had made it that far south.
In 1820 Tyree Robertson and wife were in Maury Co, TN. with 4 male and 1 female minors.
These children would be Archer, Mills, Sabrey, James and Lytle. Sabrey married 10 Jul 1822 in Maury Co., TN..
He is also listed in the Supplemental Inventory for the estate of James M. Lewis. 22 Oct 1822, Maury Co, TN.

Tyree Robertson and probably the same wife were in Lauderdale Co, AL. in 1830.
There were no others in the household!

On 01 Oct 1833 John Tyre married Dicey Moore in Lawrence Co, TN. They may have had three children together.
1 male and two females under 5 years of age are listed in the1840 U.S. census.
These females do not appear in the 1850 census with John and Dicey. Only John Tyre Robertson, Jr.

The above by William Q. Hill does not work concerning the number of sons John had in the Confederate Army.
Besides John Tyre, Jr. any son of John Tyre would be at least 55 years old during the Civil War.
The maximum enlistment age at any time during the war was 50 years.
A company of John Tyre's grandsons and great grandsons is much more believable.
